HCW@Home 6.0.0-beta.1 is out

HCW@Home 6.0.0-beta.1 is out 🎉

April 9, 2026

We are excited to announce the first beta release of HCW@Home v6, a major milestone in the evolution of our open-source telemedicine platform.

This release marks a complete rewrite of the platform, built from the ground up to address scalability, maintainability, and new clinical workflows requested by our partners in the field.

What's new in v6

  • New Python backend — the server-side has been fully rewritten, replacing the legacy stack with a modern, API-first architecture built on Django REST Framework
  • Redesigned Angular frontend — rebuilt with a cleaner component structure, multi-language support, and improved accessibility
  • LiveKit integration — video consultation infrastructure is now powered by LiveKit, bringing better WebRTC performance, recording/egress support, and scalability for high-load deployments
  • Patient dashboard — a dedicated patient-facing dashboard providing a clear overview of consultations, follow-ups, and communication with healthcare workers
  • Kubernetes-native deployment — official Helm charts and Kustomize overlays for production-grade deployments on k3s/k8s clusters

Beta status

This is a beta release intended for partners, integrators, and technical evaluators. It is not yet recommended for production deployments. We welcome feedback, bug reports, and contributions via our GitHub repository.
